HUMMINGo Enters Korea's K–12 Public Education Market

Bringing AI Writing Assessment to Korean Classrooms

Artificial Intelligence is no longer a new concept in education. Yet one important question remains: How can AI meaningfully support teachers in real classrooms without replacing their expertise?

To answer that question, HUMMINGo participated in the 2026 Summer EdTech Fair, held in Korea this July.

For HUMMINGo, this event was more than just another exhibition. Earlier this year, we introduced our AI-powered English writing assessment platform to educators around the world at international events such as BETT UK, where we explored the growing global demand for AI in education.

This time, however, we had the opportunity to introduce HUMMINGo to Korea's public education sector for the very first time.

It was a valuable opportunity to hear directly from teachers, understand the challenges they face in assessing student writing, and learn what schools truly need from AI-powered assessment tools.

🎓 What Makes AI Different for Public Education?

Many teachers and education professionals who visited the HUMMINGo booth were not looking for "an AI that simply grades students' work."

Instead, they asked thoughtful questions such as:

💬 "Can it help us monitor students' progress over time?"

These conversations reinforced an important insight:

📋 Rubric-Based Assessment Designed by Teachers

Without question, the most popular feature was teacher-defined rubric assessment.

Every school uses different assessment standards. HUMMINGo allows teachers to create their own rubrics, automatically evaluates student writing based on those criteria, and generates personalized feedback aligned with each rubric.

Rather than focusing only on grammar, the platform evaluates organization, logical structure, supporting evidence, vocabulary, and overall writing quality.

✍️ Personalized Feedback for Every Student

Providing individual feedback is one of the most time-consuming responsibilities for teachers.

HUMMINGo analyzes each student's writing and generates personalized feedback drafts, while teachers remain in full control by reviewing and editing the feedback before it is shared.

One comment we heard repeatedly was:

📝 OCR for Handwritten Writing

Many Korean schools still conduct writing assessments on paper.

Because of this, HUMMINGo's handwriting OCR attracted significant attention. Teachers appreciated that handwritten assignments could be digitized and assessed without changing their existing classroom practices.

For public education, maintaining familiar workflows while introducing AI is a meaningful advantage.

📊 Learning Analytics That Show Student Growth

Another feature that generated strong interest was HUMMINGo's learning analytics.

Rather than displaying only scores, the platform helps teachers identify recurring weaknesses, monitor progress over time, and better understand each student's learning journey.

Assessment is not simply about grading—it is about supporting continuous improvement.

Perhaps the biggest takeaway from the exhibition was this:

Public education values practical solutions more than impressive technology.

Teachers cared less about AI itself and more about whether it could:

✅ Produce results they could trust and confidently use

These priorities perfectly align with HUMMINGo's vision.

Throughout this year, HUMMINGo has met educators, international schools, and education partners at global events including BETT UK, gaining valuable insights into the evolving needs of schools worldwide.

At the 2026 Summer EdTech Fair, we brought those global experiences to Korea's public education community and discovered exciting new opportunities for collaboration.

At the same time, HUMMINGo is being submitted to leading EdTech awards both in Korea and internationally, allowing us to continue validating the platform's technological innovation and educational impact.

For us, these experiences are not simply milestones, they are opportunities to build an even better product for teachers and students.

The 2026 Summer EdTech Fair marked HUMMINGo's first introduction to Korea's public education market.

Although the event lasted only two days, it provided invaluable conversations with educators and deeper insight into the needs of real classrooms.
